CASPIAN AT ‘THE ARCHITECTURAL MODEL: EXPLORING SCALE & VISION’
Our scale model of CASPIAN - a 70m full displacement motor yacht design - made by Amalgam (www.amalgam-models.co.uk) is on show at this exhibition until the 15th of March in a window at the Architecture Centre, Narrow Quay, Bristol BS1 4QA.
The idea behind this exhibition is that by bringing a technical design to life, the architectural model can bridge the gap between theory and practice, between architects and the people for whom they design. Often the focal point of any architecture exhibition, the model is an essential component in giving shape to two dimensional plans.
Produced in collaboration with Bristol-based Amalgam, who are celebrating their 30th year in model making, the exhibition looks at the architectural model from all angles, examining the processes, materials and technology involved. The exhibition gives a glimpse into a day in the life of a model maker, and features video interviews with model makers and architects, case studies and, of course, lots of models! From cable cars in Cheddar Gorge valley to yachts, waterfronts and interactive eco homes, Amalgam shares a wide variety of different types of models from its prolific and cutting-edge workshop.
